Sleeping Beauty is finally finished and it’s only a month late for my friends birthday but it turned out to be a lot more complicated than I first thought.
Anyway now I can get back to my epic pokemon cross stitch, I mean study for my exams in June, yeah totally that second one
I have had no updates to my epic pokemon cross stitch in a while as I have been working on a birthday present to which I have finally finished the background and get to move onto the main event
Another page completed, 23 to go
Week 5 and my tank was finally ready for a fish. I ended up doing another slight change around in my rock work beforehand, moving my pulsing xenia to the top to give some movement and getting a small zoa rock to add some colour, especially under the blue lights at night when it glows neon orange and green. I then got a midas blenny as recommended by the fish shop as a bit of an impulse buy after researching gobies. I was planning him to be the sole fish inhabitant of my tank as I am not sure my tank could handle the bio load with another fish as well as him being territorial.
The blenny seemed to settle in well, eating and swimming in the open so a week later I got a cleaner shrimp to add to the community who right away got straight to work on maintaining proper fish hygiene.
Everything seemed to be going fine until about a week later after coming home from work I discovered, that for reasons unknown, the blenny had decided to give carpet surfing a go by managing to squeeze out the gap in the evaporation lid. This problem has now been sorted by purchasing extra clips for the tank lid so there is no longer a gap.
Not posted an update on my pokemon cross stitch in a while so this is only as far as I have gotten at the moment. I’ve slowed down on it as I have started a far more complicated than I thought disney dreams birthday present and will also unfortunately probably be stitching on the slow side from now as I have just started a new job as a trainee accountant so will probably have to start major studying again soon
Third and fourth weeks of tank setup, I did a re-scape of my rockwork after realising I had no room on my sand for anything to be placed so scooped out my hermit, who was yet to go back to the shop as evidenced by the shells, and snails as to not crush them took out the rocks and played about until I got a scape I liked and epoxied them together with reef safe epoxy.
My first official soft coral then went in, a mixed mushroom rock, followed a week later by three sexy shrimp, a male and two females. The male is on the far right identified by the solid white band around the bottom of his tail as opposed to the females broken band.
The sexy shrimp are one of my favourite types of shrimp or a tank, they are brightly coloured, are great for small tanks as they stay small and have a fabulous swaying motion when they move. They can however damage corals, picking at zoa skirts if they are hungry or in the case of my fathers tank developing a taste for certain types of corals, I inherited a couple more sexys for my tank after they killed a head on his torch coral by picking away at it. They have never really bothered any corals in my tank, I spot fed them pellets until I got a fish and now they eat what the fish does and have gotten bold enough to the point where they will take pellets from my fingers if I don’t rush in towards them too quickly and scare them.
Drew out the grid for the remainder of the design as I got my Gran’s old scroll frame from her, talk about going from elated I had finished a row to depressed at actually seeing how much more I have to do, oh well one sixth of the way there at least
Fifth page of pattern complete which means I have completed the first row!! :D
So the dog has just pushed his way onto my lap and passed out, I think that’s the stitching done for one night cause he’s not moving and I’m too soft to move him until I go to bed #scottie #scottish terrier #dog #cross stitch problems
